1. Operator Information (個人情報取扱事業者)

Japan Drive Test is operated as an educational resource for foreign residents preparing for the Japanese driving licence conversion exam (gaimen kirikae). Contact: formyrahul@yahoo.com

2. Purpose of Use (利用目的)

We process personal information for the following specific purposes only:

  • Personalizing your study experience — Your first name (if provided) is used to display personalized greetings and track your progress.
  • Tracking study progress — Quiz scores, topic mastery, streaks, and spaced repetition data are stored to help you prepare effectively.
  • Improving the service — Anonymous usage patterns (quiz completion rates, difficulty ratings) help us improve question quality.
  • Communication — If you provide your email address, it may be used to send study reminders or service updates. You can opt out at any time.

4. Data Storage Method

All data stays on YOUR device

Japan Drive Test stores all personal data in your browser's localStorage. This means your data never leaves your device and is never transmitted to our servers. We do not operate a database that stores user personal information.

5. Third-Party Provision (第三者提供)

We do not provide personal information to any third parties. Since all data is stored locally on your device, there is no data to transfer. We do not sell, trade, or rent personal information.

The only exception would be if required by Japanese law enforcement under a valid legal order, in which case we would comply only to the extent technically possible and legally required.

6. Security Measures (安全管理措置)

  • All connections use HTTPS with HSTS enforcement
  • No server-side database storing personal information
  • localStorage data is sandboxed by your browser's same-origin policy
  • Input validation and sanitization on all user-provided data
  • Content Security Policy headers to prevent XSS attacks
  • Regular security audits of codebase

7. Your Rights (本人の権利)

Under APPI, you have the following rights regarding your personal information:

  • Right of disclosure (開示請求) — You can view all your data at any time on the Progress page.
  • Right of correction (訂正請求) — You can modify your name and preferences at any time.
  • Right of deletion (削除請求) — You can delete ALL your data using the "Delete My Data" button on the Progress page, or by clearing your browser data.
  • Right to cease use (利用停止請求) — Simply stop using the site. No data is collected passively.

8. Cookies and Tracking

Japan Drive Test does not use cookies for tracking. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or any third-party tracking scripts. The only browser storage used is localStorage for your study progress, which is not shared with any external service.

9. Children's Privacy

This service is intended for adults preparing for a driving licence exam. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 18. If you are under 18, please use this service under parental supervision.

10. Changes to This Policy

We may update this privacy policy from time to time. Changes will be posted on this page with an updated "last modified" date. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
